When Isla Mujeres was discovered by Spanish navigators in the 15th century, it was completely uninhabited except for numerous Mayan statuettes, all depicting women, found all over the island. Hence the island was named Isla Mujeres, "The Island of Women". Since then Isla Mujeres has been a base for pirates, sailors, merchants and fisherman alike.
Surrounded by a spectacular crystalline turquoise sea, abounding with world renowned sub-aquatic fauna and flora, Isla Mujeres' natural beauty has been an attraction for travelers and adventurers for decades. In the late 1960's, Isla Mujeres received world-wide recognition through the escapades and incredible under water photography of Ramon Bravo and Jacques Cousteau.

All rooms have cable television with channels in Spanish & English, ceiling fans, air conditioning and a telephone. The hotel is family owned and managed with the guests becoming part of the family. The owners have children & pets and both are welcome at the hotel.
The hotel offers facilities for guests of all ages: a large pool, a children’s pool; with colonial waterfall, the Isleno Maya Bar, recreation palapa next to the pool, hammocks in the sun or shade and the Pinguino’s Restaurant. The Posada Del Mar offers simple tranquility in the heart of Isla Mujeres at a great rate!

NA BALAM is located on the north beach of Isla Mujeres offering 31 rooms with sitting areas, private patios, air-conditioning, ceiling fans, safety deposit boxes, beachfront snack bar, and a restaurant. Surrounding the hotel are beautiful white sand beaches for you to enjoy. If that isn't enough, you can also take advantage of the hotel's own tour boat which can take you on a number of exciting excursions (more details are available at the front desk of the hotel). This is a great property and location for all travellers. Up to two children under 12 can stay for free!
